Iraq deal for GE, Mass Energy

BAGHDAD: Leading infrastructure group Mass Energy Group Holding (MGH) and GE Power have been signed up by the Iraqi government for Phase Three of the country’s major Besmaya Power Plant, the largest new power plant by output to be added to Iraqís national grid since 2014. It is anticipated to bring another 1.5 GW of power online by 2021.

 

SNC-Lavalin wins contract

ABU DHABI: SNC-Lavalin has been awarded a general engineering, project management and technical support services contract from Al Yasat Petroleum, a joint venture between Adnoc and China National Petroleum Corporation. Under the three-year agreement worth $39 million, SNC-Lavalin will partner with Al Yasat Petroleum in extending the engineering and project support arm.

 

New head for renewables

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy has appointed Faisal Abdullah Al-Yemni as its head of Renewable Energy Project Development Office (Repdo). Al-Yemni will be responsible for driving the delivery of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious National Renewable Energy Program, with the aim of increasing the kingdom’s renewable energy capacity.

 

 

 

 

 

Masdar, EDF to launch new firm

ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) and French low-carbon electricity leader EDF have signed an agreement to set up a new joint venture energy services company (Esco) in order to expand into non-utility scale renewables and energy-efficiency investments in the UAE, GCC region and other emerging countries.

 

$15bn water, power output

DUBAI: The gross output of the water, wastewater and electricity sector in the UAE grew 2.7 percent in 2018 to Dh55.8 billion ($15.2 billion) as compared to Dh54.3 billion in the preceding year, a media report said. The growth is driven by the continuing population growth.
