Truckoman is intending to make land transport management a scientific task
Dedicated to providing total Logistic and Transportation facilities in and around the Gulf Region, Truckoman LLC., has more than two decades of experience as a transportation services provider.
The Company's Mission Statement identifies its goal as ''To be recognised in the Middle East, particularly the Gulf Region, as the cargo haulage contractor of choice.''
In line with this objective, Truckoman has adopted an aggressive strategy of utilising new technologies including ''On-Line business,'' to stay ahead of its competitors,
''We intend to make land transport management a scientific task by adopting state-of-the-art technologies including e-commerce,'' said Truckoman's general manager David A A Millar. ''We already have a reputation as a competent services provider but we can improve our performance by utilising new technologies to manage our assets and supply chains more efficiently in our customers' best interests," he explained.
Truckoman has two large fleets of people carriers, light duty trucks, oilfield winch trucks, prime movers with trailer combinations, and off-road cranes and forklifts. The Company specialises in moving heavy, and/or oversize cargoes in and around the Middle East. It is committed to providing its customers with quality transportation services, consistent with highest international standards.
The Company has two operating divisions, one based on the coast near Muscat and one in South Oman at Nimr where it provides cargo haulage and drilling-rig transportation services in support of oil and gas exploration and development operations in that area.
The Coast Division has a customer base of more than fifty regular clients and is currently providing cargo haulage services all over the Gulf region.
Truckoman opened an office in the southern port of Salalah during the first quarter of last year in anticipation of increased volumes of sea freight cargo entering the country through the newly opened container port facility. This strategic decision has paid off and the Salalah office is now open for business and an integral part of Truckoman's revenue stream.
Truckoman employs teams of highly qualified, experienced professionals with the best equipment and is able to comprehensively plan complicated logistics operations involving cargo movement, project mobilisation and demobilisation exercises, customs clearances, border crossings, police escorts, and cargo loading and unloading.
The formation of these teams help ensure that optimum performance levels are maintained and that the services they offer are tailor-made to meet an individual customer's transportation needs.
Logistics planning is crucial to successful transportation of heavy cargoes around the world. In preparing quotes for road transport services, Truckoman encourages its Logistics planners to identify their customers' objectives and deliver the goods on time, intact, and within budget.
Truckoman believes that accidents are preventable and that the potential for them happening can be effectively managed out of any exercise by sound, professional planning.
Millar strikes a cautiously optimistic tone when queried about demand for Transportation services in the near future. He confirmed that the trucking business has shown some signs of picking recently but, he added: ''Trucking has always been a highly competitive business.''
''The current high oil price has not yet directly resulted in a resumption of oilfield activity to 1997-98 levels, but when it does,'' he says, ''you will have to run fast to keep up with Truckoman''.
