Global energy firms maintain a strong presence at the event

Set to take place at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from March 3
to 5, 2008, GEO 2008 (the 8th Middle East Geosciences Conference and Exhibition) is established as the leading exploration gathering in the Middle East and regularly attracts over 4,000 oil and gas professionals from throughout the region and beyond.

This year’s conference takes place under the theme Integrated Geoscience – Technical, Business and People Solutions.
The conference will address a myriad of topics that are relevant to the current global energy climate which range from issues related to the aging workforce and initiatives to attract new talent to the upstream oil and gas industry, advances in technology, reservoir characterisation, new play concepts, companies working together in new relationships, and geoscience solutions and applications for non conventional reservoirs.
The GEO conference is organised by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) under the chairmanship of Farouk Hussain Al Zanki, chairman and managing director of Kuwait Oil Company.
GEO 2008 is also supported by leading petroleum geosciences societies; the Dhahran Geoscience Society (DGS), the Bahrain Geoscience Society, the Emirates Society of Geoscience (ESG), the Geological Society of Oman, and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and national and international oil companies.
Parallel to the conference is an extensive exhibition of exploration and development products, services, technology and techniques spanning over 12,000 sq m.
The exhibition features flagship stands occupied by all six GCC national oil companies; Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, Bahrain Petroleum Company, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Petroleum Development Oman, Qatar Petroleum and Saudi Aramco.
International oil companies also maintain a strong presence at GEO 2008 with Chevron, ExxonMobil, Japan Oil, Gas and Metals Corporation (JOGMEC), Shell and Total occupying significant exhibition space. Service industry giants Baker Hughes, BGP, CGGVeritas, Halliburton, Paradigm, Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), Roxar and Schlumberger amongst others consolidate this line up in addition to dedicated UK and US pavilions and smaller specialist suppliers and distributors.
The GEO exhibition is organised by Arabian Exhibition Management of Bahrain in association with London based Overseas Exhibition Services, both members of Allworld Exhibitions.
A new exhibition and conference in the GEO series, GEO India 2008, is planned from September 16 to 19, 2008 in Greater Noida, New Delhi, to serve the South Asian geoscience community.
