New system ideal to supply offshore installations

Alfred Kärcher GmbH and Co KG has recently extended its product range considerably in the field of water purification.

The firm has been manufacturing water purification systems of all sizes for many years, due to the high demand for all kind of international standard mobile drinking water purification systems ranging from very small portable units to large containerised equipment in industrial situations.

The first innovation is the WTC 500 HS series, one of the firm’s most important new products. It is especially constructed to produce drinking water from sea water with a high salt content, lending itself perfectly as an offshore solution.

It can produce pure drinking water fully automatically from sea water with a salinity of up to 55,000 mg per litre. The capacity of the system is up to 120,000 litre drinking water per day.

The system is installed in a 20 ft ISO container and equipped with all necessary process steps that ensure the production of safe drinking water even when the system is operated by personnel with little training.

An innovative solution in the area of energy recycling minimises the energy requirement so that an electrical power generator could even be placed in the container. Usually, systems of this size are built in a 40 ft container to achieve the same output.

The second recent innovation from Alfred Kärcher  GmbH is the containerised surface water purification system.

This system is suitable for the purification of heavily polluted surface, ground and spring water which presents a great risk to health when drunk without prior treatment, which could prove useful in the difficult Middle East environment.

It consists of a drinking water purification unit and various accessories such as water tanks, pumps and a water lab. It has a drinking water output of 2,000 litre per hour.

The water is treated on the basis of the physical principle of ultra-filtration in which the water is pressed through a membrane which safely retains viruses, bacteria and other hazardous matters.

The complete system is also able to remove oil and solvents from the dirty water.
