Yanbu project set

Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu chairman Prince Saud ibn Abdullah ibn Thunayyan signed a contract for the construction of high-voltage electricity transmission stations in Yanbu 2 for SR391 million ($104.3 million) during a visit to the industrial city.

The contract is with the Hadi Haidar Contracting Company, a Saudi company.
The Yanbu power project includes the main and subsidiary electricity plants, which involves the design and construction of power electricity plants that will provide power to the Marafeq Company's desalination compound among other companies.
The power project also includes the levelling of project sites, which entails cleaning and clearing project sites of trees and other unwanted materials to prepare the land site for other services like water-cooled electricity cables, roads and draining systems.
Other items in the new power project are designing, importing and installing electricity towers for electricity lines and delivering electricity energy to industrial projects which will provide power to petrochemical and light industrial areas.
The funding for this project will also go towards constructing the hi-tech Yanbu Technical Institute, two female elementary schools, two male/female middle schools, and one male elementary school. These schools are scheduled for 2008 completion.
During his visit of Yanbu 2, the prince met contractors carrying out the first stages of various projects that cost over SR546 million, and urged them to speed up their efforts.
He also urged the other contractors of peripheral projects which cost SR91 million to expedite their work.
These projects will serve several companies, including Yanbu National Petrochemicals Company's (Yansab). Prince Saud reviewed a number of proposals for the initial design of the coastline of Yanbu industrial city.
He then reviewed the environmental situation of Badr province and Al-Raies centre.
He ended his tour by visiting Yansab operations in the area. Yansab is a subsidiary of Sabic.
Madinat Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah (MYAS) possesses the good features and merits of cities although the period lapsed since its establishment is not longer than two decades.
MYAS is a typical industrial fortress, a work of art in architectural engineering or a platform with unlimited capabilities among civilisational cities. It is a good evidence of what have been achieved on the welfare and awarding land under the rational leadership.
MYAS is located 350 km north west of Jeddah. It possesses tourism features due to its location on a coastal line between the red sea and Hijaz hills.
MYAS is considered the destination of the east-west oil and gas pipelines which start from the production areas east of the kingdom.
MYAS is also considered the largest port for export of crude oil on the Red Sea coast. MYAS has proved its strategic importance as a substitute port for the crude oil export outlets on the Gulf coast.
The Yanbu Port includes the facilities that enable it export more than three million barrels per day while its location near the Suez Channel makes it an excellent access to European markets and the developing markets in Africa and Middle East. Yanbu, moreover is located in the middle of the distance between America and the countries of the Pacific Ocean.
Jubail Industrial City is a Saudi model that tells the story of planning combined with the will to achieve the comprehensive civic and industrial development seen today at all local, regional and international levels.
There is no doubt that the advanced infrastructure of Jubail is the cornerstone which has allowed the various industrial, commercial and social sectors to establish themselves through integrated action.
Jubail infrastructure has the capability to operate continuously without failure of power or supplies in any of the existing facilities while meeting community requirements within modern, high living standards.
However, work is still on to upgrade and expand the infrastructure to allow the private sector to participate in the growth and development of the city.
