Arabian Pipes Company (APC), the leading electric resistance welding (ERW) pipe manufacturer in Saudi Arabia, continues to enhance its strategic position within the industry securing major supply contracts both regionally and internationally.

APC has embarked on significant capacity expansion as the company spearheads its strategic vision for state-of-the-art pipe manufacturing and internal and external coating facilities at its Riyadh and Jubail plants.
The world-scale Jubail Industrial City plant is scheduled for commissioning in the second quarter of 2006. The 300,000 tonnes capacity plant will produce 16 to 48 inch heavy wall pipes manufactured to the 'UOE' forming process and longitudinal seam submerged arc welded (LSAW). Expansion plans in Jubail already include helical submerged arc welding (HSAW) for 100 inch pipelines for water transmission applications.
Since commercial production started in Riyadh in 1996, APC has supplied more than 30 million feet of high-grade steel pipe in the 6 to 20 inch range locally and internationally. Applications include line pipes and casing pipes for oil and gas supply, the petrochemical sector as well as oil and water well casings, piling and general structural pipes. APC has earned a reputation as one of the world's leading suppliers for the manufacture of critical line pipes for wet, sour and other critical applications.
APC continues to capture an increasing share of the pipe coating market following the commissioning of its state-of-the-art Riyadh plant parallel to its manufacturing plant. Commercial production at its coating facility in Riyadh began in 2002 and more than three million feet of different coatings have been supplied.
Planned expansions and new project investments for APC in Riyadh include facilities for hollow section tubes (square and rectangular) as well as a threading and coupling.
After commercial production starts at the new pipe manufacturing facility in Jubail, APC is planning to set-up and commission its internal and external coating facilities in 2006.
Commercial production of this technologically advanced world-scale manufacturing plant for large diameter 16 to 48 inch pipes up to API 5L X80 and all other equivalent specification is set to consolidate APC's global position.
APC is an export-led company and has already successfully supplied prestigious projects for leading companies in Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan and Other African markets, Yemen, Iraq, Iran and Malaysia and its corporate strategy is to develop exports markets further.
APC has recently won several major line pipes projects in Oman and United Arab Emirates i.e. Shams Gas Project and Al-Kawther pipeline project in Oman and OGD III and Haweela Projects in UAE. The execution of these projects shall start by the last quarter of 2005 and completion early year 2006.
APC was able to win these contracts against stiff competition from International Asian and European suppliers and is an indication of the company's increasing ability to compete internationally with its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and coating technologies.
These contracts are part of several successes in establishing APC's technical and marketing abilities in Saudi Arabia, regionally and internationally.
APC is also contracted to supply more 50 km of gas pipelines as part of a complementary work of one of the projects implemented by the company in Egypt.
In Addition to its major supplies of Line Pipes and Casings (Threaded and Coupled) pipes to Saudi Aramco, Arabian Pipes has participated in several tenders for long-term supply agreement consisting of producing, stocking and supplying the needs of local, regional and global Oil & Gas Companies. Quality, efficiency and capabilities are main advantages of APC for executing such agreements.
APC is becoming one of the most active companies worldwide with an increasing presence in many international markets. In recent years, more than two-thirds of APC's sales were secured outside of Saudi Arabia.
Its aim has been to target productivity and quality improvements that will give optimum benefits to customers throughout the region, in terms of price and quality, and ensure that they meet the most demanding specifications of customers worldwide in order to continue to develop the export market.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia sees a significant growth in its oil, gas and petrochemical industries, there has been a parallel increase in demand for quality piping and coating systems for the energy industry.
Taking the market needs into account, APC has built its reputation as a leader in the field.
Adhering to high standards of quality and reliability, the company is playing an integral role in the growth and development of Saudi Arabia as an industrial giant. Until recently, Saudi Arabia had to rely on overseas markets to meet this demand necessitating costly imports and occasional delivery problems.
APC is now meeting this demand not only in Saudi Arabia, but also in other countries of the Gulf, the Middle East and internationally.  APC supplies its products cost effectively and efficiently from its facilities across the Kingdom. Since 1995, APC has operated a world-class ERW tube mill incorporating the most advanced pipe making, weld and testing facilities, hi-tech laboratories and the latest handling and storage methods.
The mill’s nominal pipe diameter ranges from 6 to 20 inches. Pipe thickness range from 3.2mm (0.128 inch) to 16mm (0.625 inch). Any standard length of pipe is available up to 15.24m.
APC offers a wide range of pipe products, though the final choice of product specification is determined by the particular application.
APC can handle any demands from special purpose piping used in the oil and gas industries - line pipes, high pressure line pipe, casing for the transport of oil, gas and water from production operations - to critical and high-pressure services and structural piping.
For the petroleum sector, the long distance and safe transportation and distribution of oil and gas requires pipes meeting the most stringent specification levels including API (5CT and 5L up to X70), ASTM, JIS, DIN and BS.
Quality control and testing are integral to meeting these stringent specifications, assurance procedures that APC is fully equipped to handle.
APC commissioning of its longitudinal submerged arc welding (LSAW) process pipes facility to meet increased demand worldwide for a high quality manufacturer and supplier of wider range of high quality steel pipes.
The new mill represents a major investment for the company with production capability of 300,000 metric tonnes of steel pipes, from 16 to 48 inches, per year.
The project is considered a fundamental and significant stage for implementing APC’s strategy of becoming the first specialist center for supplying wide range of high - quality welded steel pipes (bare/coating) for most applications.
APC’s coating facility, located in Riyadh, has captured a significant share of the local and export market.
Arabian Yadong Coating Ltd is a joint venture between Arabian Pipes Company and Yadong Coating International and since commissioning of the coating facility in Riyadh in 2002, the company has been actively serving the needs for the local industrial, as well as the regional market, with various projects on Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) single layer coating to Saudi Aramco Specification 09-SAMSS-089, and three layer polyethylene coating to Din 30670.
The coating mill is capable of coating steel pipes size from six inches up to 48 inches in diameter, and different length.
The annual production capacity is over 4.8 square metres for FBE coating to Saudi Aramco Specification as well as Canadian Specification CSA Z245.20-02, including three-layer Polyethylene coating meeting Din 30670 and other international standards.
The joint venture plant is set up with this vertical integration within the existing APC tube mill in Riyadh.
APC is a leading supplier to all regional and international oil & gas companies and contractors operating in the Gulf and Middle East and Africa regions and has entered in long-terms agreements with several reputable companies in Yemen, Oman and the UAE and in the process to do so with several other countries and companies.
