Anabeeb's expertise ranges from microtunnelling to horizontal directional drilling

Arabian Pipeline  and Services Company Ltd (Anabeeb) has continued its long-standing valued relationship with Saudi Aramco with a number of projects successfully completed throughout the year so far.

With its corporate headquarters in Jubail and further facilities in Yanbu Anabeeb is strategically well-placed to serve its customers throughout Saudi Arabia and other GCC regions.
The leading specialist industrial services provider executed a major project in the Western Province earlier in the year. 'This was a challenging Total Refinery Shutdown which involved the cleaning of columns; vessels; heat exchangers; and tower modifications including Gempack renewal of packing for a large vacuum tower; bundle pulling; chemical cleaning; flange-facing and bolt-tensioning', commented Operations Manager Shankar Pareek.
'This was a 28 day shutdown involving a manpower of over 400 and other services included unloading of FCC catalyst and the mechanical decoking of heaters using our patented Decoking Descaling Technology DDT,'' he continued.
Two other Saudi Aramco projects in the Western Province involved the unloading and loading of material in a De-hydrator and heat exchanger and vessel cleaning including the use of specialist bundle pulling equipment for a particularly difficult bundle.
Anabeeb's relationship with Saudi Aramco extends throughout the Kingdom and projects in the Eastern Province include Plateformers unloading and reloading catalyst, internal repairs and cleaning.
Anabeeb's flare and chimney specialists also recently completed the tensioning of guy wires in the region.
Another interesting contract awarded in the area was for the provision of instrument air supply to plant by means of portable oil-free compressors, air dryers and aftercoolers.
On the same site Anabeeb completed the molecular sieve loading for new plant and is nearing completion of major chemical cleaning for commissioning.
The Flare and Chimney Division has been particularly busy this year, according to Ian Thompson, Business Development Manager. 'We have just successfully executed a complete flare stack modification where we designed a special A-frame to lift the whole flare structure without the use of a crane.
''The challenge was to replace 36 inch diameter flare header piping by means of cold-cutting with ultra-high pressure water.
''Our scope included detailed engineering and load calculations to install the frame to hold the 50 tonne plus weight. The alternative would have been the use of a 750 tonne crane thereby making significant savings to the customer,'' Thompson confirmed.
Anabeeb also continues to provide support to Saudi Aramco through its Thrustboring and Directional Drilling activities.
General Manager Arjo Stravers said: ''We are constantly improving our capabilities in this very specialist field and to further strengthen the team we are pleased to have recently appointed Jeff Forrester into the position of Operations Manager for our busy Pipeline Division.
''We have a number of contracts this year both in the Kingdom and throughout the GCC and Jeff will give us the additional back-up and expertise we need to provide the very best solutions to our customers''.
Anabeeb is currently working on a range of projects requiring Micro-tunneling, pipejacking and horizontal directional drilling, with further capabilities to include Augerboring, Center-Bite (rock hammering) and associated piling work, wellpoint dewatering, carrier insertion and grouting.
Anabeeb's customers also include Saudi Aramco associate companies, such as SAMREF and SASREF and this year saw the successful completion of a Total Refinery Shutdown where the scope included the works within the Hydrocracker Complex. This was a major 'fast-track' shutdown involving in excess of 2,500 men.
This year has also seen a number of new investments for Anabeeb which includes the recent acquisition of a specialised Bundle Puller.
This 11 meter long, 2.5 meter wide machine has a pulling capacity of up to 80 tonnes making it the only one of its kind in the GCC region.
Anabeeb continues to go from strength to strength and takes this opportunity to thank Saudi Aramco and its other valued customers for the support and confidence extended to it.
