MQE's services include pipeline maintenance

Established in 1972 with a brief to provide quality engineering and project management services to Saudi Arabia's oil and gas industry, Mohammed M Al Qarni Establishment (MQE) has firmly established itself as a dependable operator in the onshore and offshore pipeline construction and maintenance sector.

In three decades, the Dammam-based company has also diversified the range of services it offers to include procurement, pipeline construction management and inspection for the refining and petrochemical industries, to meet market demands and clients' requirements.
MQE employs what it calls a 'unique' approach to projects, which emphasises hiring the best people for the job, ensuring that project teams are flexible and ensuring that engineers and management are project-driven. Indeed, the calibre of its more than 250 staff, which include highly experienced and qualified engineers, technical personnel and dedicated administration staff, is seen as being central to the ongoing success of the company.
From its offices and workshop in Dammam, MQE operates a fleet of modern heavy equipment, including cranes, excavators, vacuum tankers, compressors and welding equipment to provide services which comply with the stringent quality standards demanded by Saudi Aramco.
MQE's formal quality assurance system focuses on the identification of project requirements, documentation and implementation of the project to the clients' satisfaction.
MQE's pipeline maintenance services cover both oil and gas pipelines and include fabrication, installation, grit/sand blasting, painting/coating/wrapping, repair/reconditioning of bulk storage tanks and repair/maintenance of wellhead manifolds.
Its advanced pipeline inspection services include internal geometry, corrosion and crack detection, leak detection, tailor-made inspection systems and tank floor inspection.
The company also carries out testing services which include hydrotesting of valves, fittings and pipeline, welding testing, NPT, NDT and X-Ray testing for pipelines.
Working under the maxim 'Prevention is better than cure', safety is an integral part of the overall MQE operation, and the company actively promotes a safe and efficient working environment for its employees, resident clients and subcontractors.
Over the years, MQE has proved itself able to react and adapt to changing market and client needs, sometimes through agency agreements.
Since 1988, for instance, MQE has been the sole agent in Saudi Arabia for German pipeline inspection specialist H Rosen Engineering GmbH. Under the agreement, MQE is able to provide onshore and offshore inspection of pipelines of between 4 and 56' diameter, covering corrosion and cracks, leak detection, tank bottom inspection and other tailor-made pipeline-related services, using the latest technologies and equipment.
MQE draws upon the global presence, pipeline inspection capabilities, R&D potential, flexibility and highly skilled staff of the Rosen Group.
Saudi Aramco has for many years benefited from MQE's cutting edge expertise, including among some reconditioning services on water injection flow lines at Udhailiyah, Hawiyah, Hermaliyah and Shedgum.
MQE's project experience also covers Khuff gas well sites, water injection headers, water injection pump stations, water supply flow lines, oil and gas flowlines, and cathodic protection systems.
