Usman receiving the BID Quality award in Paris

ADIB Al-Zamil & Khalid Al-Fouzan Company (Dar Consulting Engineers), a leading Saudi design and engineering consultancy firm, says it currently has contracts worth around $500 million this year and sees business booming as new petrochemical projects come online.

“The overall growth of business has been more than 100 per cent for our company. The future is very bright as Sadara petrochemical complex has generated very high hopes for future prospects. And we, being at the doorstep in Jubail, see very bright future for the upcoming year,” says a company spokesman.

The company has recently opened new offices within Saudi Arabia (Yanbu and Al Khobar) as well as overseas in Egypt (Cairo) to meet the growing needs of its clients. These satellite offices are fully operational now and are of strategic importance, he emphasises.

Under its expansion strategy, Dar Consulting now plans to venture into engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), environmental studies and plant turnaround services.

Dar Consulting was founded in 1997 in Jubail Industrial City to provide design and engineering consultancy services for the rapidly expanding petrochemical industry in particular, and various projects in the Gulf.

Today, it is involved in multi-disciplinary projects like oil refineries, petrochemical plants, chemical industries, urban/rural planning, residential and commercial complex designs and detailed engineering, process study, piping designs, civil/structure, electrical, instrument and control designs.

Dar Consulting is engaged in providing detailed engineering, consultancy services and feasibility studies for various medium to large size projects and the spokesman says that in-plant piping and debottlenecking were the main challenges in some of the recent projects undertaken by the company.

Among its ongoing major orders, Dar Consulting is working on projects for the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, Sabic (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation), as well as on a pipeline and new complex for the Royal Saudi Navy. The design and engineering of the huge naval complex – which is being built at the junction of Jubail 1 and Jubail 2 cities – was approved Royal Commission, he says.

Since its establishment, Dar has been involved in a large number of projects in various fields and has provided services to a number of clients inside and outside Jubail in the field of design and engineering, urban planning and site development, project management, environmental engineering, and technical manpower services.

Dar Consulting has developed considerably in a very short period and today enjoys a remarkable status among its peers. It currently has 90 engineers and designers on its direct payroll, with 400 people working with different oil and gas and petrochemical companies on PMC (project management consulting) projects. Additionally, the newly opened Cairo office employs about 30 designers, architects and engineers.

The company was recently awarded the Leadership in Quality award at the 2012 Business Initiative Directions (BID) international quality convention held in Paris, France.

The award was received by Hafiz Muhammad Usman, manager business development of Dar Consulting Engineers.
