Brunel operates office in Dubai

Brunel Energy, the energy arm of the Netherlands registered Brunel International N V, is one of the prime service providers for the oil and gas industry worldwide.

Brunel Energy offices are strategically located in countries like the US, UK, Canada, Europe, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India , Middle East, Kazakhstan, West Africa and Russia.
In the Middle East, Brunel Energy operates offices in Qatar, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait.
V Mohan, Regional Director of Brunel Energy’s Middle East and Indian operations, says that Brunel Energy divisions worldwide is a ‘a force to reckon with’ in the field of  providing ‘specialist manpower’ for the oil and gas sector.
“Outsourcing is an age old concept with many international organizations but is being implemented globally at a much higher pace in the recent times,” says Mohan. “The asset owners and operators who are investing billions of dollars in oil and gas development projects and new technologies, prefer to maintain their focus on their core business expertise.
“This is essentially required to get the best returns on their investments.  Although in any industry the core strength lies in its human resources and their capabilities, it is considered prudent by the asset owners to outsource a reasonable quantum of their required human resources through specialized organizations, thereby minimising the cost on their permanent infrastructure and employees.”
Mohan says, “Brunel Group, with its worldwide operations currently out sources more than 5,000 +  specialists for the varying industrial needs globally.
Almost 50 per cent of the above resources, are presently deployed by the Brunel Energy divisions for various upstream, midstream and downstream operations in the oil and gas sectors.
“The global presence of Brunel Energy in almost every time zone, in-house resources and our global database of specialists, have vastly contributed to the growth we have achieved over the last five years.
“Apart from the knowledge, expertise and resources Brunel possesses, the way we carry out the contract administration of our specialists (in-house as well as global resources) has been the key to our success,” says Mohan.
Brunel Energy’s Middle East office was set up in the year 1997, by taking over the management and operations of CIC, which had an existing maintenance contract for the Conoco managed Dubai Petroleum Company (DPC).
Brunel was responsible for instrumentation related services of DPC’s offshore and onshore facilities.
Over the years Brunel has grown significantly in the Middle East region by expanding the operations in other GCC countries.
Some other clients in the region, for whom Brunel provides specialist services, include companies like Shell, Dolphin, Total, KBR/Brown & Root Intl, Maersk, Conoco, RasGas, Qatar Gas, QP, Emarat, Adnoc group of companies and other international EPC organisations.
“We treat the people right, make them feel comfortable as part of the Brunel family, we define the terms of employment clearly without any ambiguity and above all we fulfill our commitments on time.
“We make no compromise on the quality of personnel outsourced to the clients and our service is rendered in a professional manner.
“We try to work on an ‘open book’ policy with our clients, so that they are aware of what they are paying for.
“Over the years, we have put in concerted efforts to develop this trust and exhibited commitment and quality to all our clients,” says Mohan.
Brunel Energy currently operates a global database with the main server located in the Netherlands, which is accessed by authorized personnel based in different offices world wide.
This provides opportunity for a 24/7 line of communication, over coming the time differences in various time zones and varying weekends/holidays at different counties.
This unique database not only provides CVs of globally located candidates, but also serves as a MIS base for the global management team.
Brunel places high importance on the safety aspects and the quality aspects of the support services. Over the last ten years of the company’s operations in the Middle East, Brunel Energy proudly maintains an “Accident/Incident Free” record with zero man hour loss, owing to any safety related incidents.
Another interesting concept which has developed in the recent past is that major operating companies are currently focusing towards “global service contracts” with global outsourcing organisations like Brunel, says Mohan.
Brunel Energy with its global offices in 20+ countries operates as an extended division of some of the major operating companies, where the services are locally required.
“This places our organization in a position to provide comparable professional services at the right prices prevailing and with the expected industry standards, in various countries,” says Mohan.
“This way the client could compare an “apple to an apple” situation and not something lesser.
“Also the services would be standardized globally within the parameters of the client expectations, their systems and policies worldwide,” says Mohan.
The winning of a maintenance support services contract with RasGas for Analysers/Fire and Gas Systems, marked Brunel’s entry into the Qatar market, in 2000.  Since then, Brunel has gone from strength to strength by winning term-based contracts with Qatargas, Qapco, Shell and Qatar Petroleum.
In 2001, Brunel was given the challenge of identifying and placing middle/senior level positions for Qatar Chemical Co Ltd (Q-Chem).  Brunel successfully recruited more than 70 specialists through strategic recruitment from the GCC countries.
Brunel`s specialist manpower was instrumental in the erection and commissioning of gas and steam turbines at Q-Power Plant at Ras Laffan Industrial City for the Siemens/Somi Impianti contract.
Currently Brunel has an ongoing contract with QP to provide specialists as part of the core project management team.
Brunel opened its Indian office in December 2006 to support its global manpower needs and to service its international clients operating in the Indian sub-continent. The oil and gas Industry in India has shown considerable growth over the recent years and Brunel feels this is it’s the right time to foray into the Indian market.
The vision of the company is also to expand its business in the neighbouring countries such as Oman, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait over a period of time.
“In my opinion, we are one of the few global organisations functioning on a ‘close knit’ basis with our worldwide offices – sharing local knowledge of operations in different countries, internal business process, market strategies, coordination procedures and above all the available resources, through our periodic global meetings.
“We try and live up to our mission statement –‘to ensure the right knowledge is at the right place at the right time’,” says Mohan.
