Germany’s largest gas group E.ON Ruhrgas is to set up local offices in the UAE and Qatar to raise its profile in the Middle East and North Africa and drive its entry into the LNG busines.

The company appointed John Roper, Petro-Canada’s regional vice president, to manage the affiliates at Dubai and Doha and to coordinate the group’s interest in the region.
Besides overseeing the development of LNG projects, he is in charge of “securing operated upstream assets,” the group said.
