SAUDI Aramco continues to attract national and global attention for its work in the environmental excellence and the efficient use of energy resources.

Shedgum Gas Plant (ShGP ) has been named a winner of the US-based Gas Processors Association (GPA) International Environmental Excellence Award.

The award was presented to ShGP last spring in Dallas, Texas, at the GPA annual convention. The GPA selected and recognized ShGP for its outstanding environmental performance in 2013.

Established in 1921, the GPA is a nonprofit association with members from 136 oil and gas companies and partners from international associations in the GCC, Canada, Europe and Venezuela.

Shedgum Gas Plant, the Environmental Excellence Division winner, earned the distinction for its Flare Gas Recovery System, the first of its kind among Saudi Aramco facilities. The system was commissioned in March 2013.
